Is anyone else upset by the lack of live wallpapers with this update? Does anyone have an idea on how we can get those on the Hero? Mad

I wouldn't sweat it too much, live wallpapers and snazzy graphic stuff won't do much but slow down the Hero I'd bet.

With the ROM I loaded on my rooted Hero (buufed 2.0b) I am able to assign Live Wallpapers (with hardware limitations).

Well I tried the aquarium one with the tropical fish (in 3d). Compared to EVO, the Hero didn't display the bubbles - everything else worked and smoothly.

No it didn't lol. Actually took I would say about four hours and mostly because I kept running into two main problems.

First problem, I didn't know my version of Android wasn't rootable thanks to Sprint. After downgrading the software the root was easy to apply.

Second problem was with Aps2SD - I didn't know I had to partition my SD card for that to work. Finally found out how to do that through recovery mode (powering off phone then powering on hold power button and home button). There's an option in there to partition (I left values default for ext being 500 megabytes).

Mostly it took so long because I had to do alot of Google searches to find this info. After finding it, it was easy to apply. Also there are a bunch of things y...

What does it mean to partation my SD card to make room on it?
...
Dread_99

Jul 2, 2010, 1:36 PM
Partition is to set aside a certain amount of memory in this example for apps2sd to use.
...
joeybuschette

Jul 2, 2010, 1:37 PM
Now is that something that I have to set and leave or can I adjust it as my apps adjust?
...

Set and leave - remember to backup all your data on a computer before you partition.

Can I at least set how much it takes up? Like on my 8gig now I can set it to take up 4gigs? And will it change if I put in a new memory card? Does it delete stuff from my memory card and that's why I need to back it up?
...

Jul 2, 2010, 1:47 PM
It basically formats your memory card. I too have a 8gig memory card. Every place I searched on the web said to partition 500mb. They did not recommend any more than this. So that's what I did on mine. I have downloaded a butt-ton of apps and still have tons of memory available not to mention all the original memory on my phone itself Very Happy

If you put in a new memory card that isn't partitioned; then apps2sd will not work.

So I can put aside only 500mbs and be just fine with that. If I put in a new memory card I can partition that one too right?

Yes but apps are saved on the SD card. So if you put in a different card then you will not be able to access the previous apps you downloaded on the other one (haven't tested).

Also I am pretty new on the Apps2SD concept. I know its said to partition the card that way but I'm unclear as to exactly why. Also not for sure if the 500mb is used for apps or the remainder on the card (pretty sure its the 500mb tho).

Jul 2, 2010, 2:14 PM
So you mean you aren't sure if the 500mbs is for either apps or if that's what's left over on the card for anything else. I've go a lot of music on my phone. I wonder if maybe I shouldn't get a bigger card just to be safe

Oh, you will be fine. I too have lots of stuff on my SD card and when I check my usage it shows:

Total Space : 6.89BG (it is an 8GB card)
Available Space: 6.12GB

Sd card secondary
Total Space: 457MB
Available Space: 352MB (this is what makes me believe it is storing on this partition)

Internal phone storage
Available Space: 126MB
