Really don't know what to do

I am at the end of my 30 days for this Hero. I have a love hate relationship with it since I am coming from a blackberry.

The phone is nice, and has a great screen. Most of the apps are not necessary but fun. I have not used any of the apps except Timeriffic and a few others...because they are not needed for the basic function of the handset.

The battery life is pretty dismal...coming from a phone which would last 3-4 days on a single charge to the HTC Hero that barely lasts one day...regardless of the settings, firmware, etc. All of that is minimal disruption but it's important to note.

The release for Android 2.1 for Sprint is not available and I was hoping that the release would correct some of the issues.

The calendar o...

I love the Hero. If the calender is an issue, is there not a planner or organizer on the app market that would work? I had a BB before and don't plan on swapping back any time soon. I guess it really depends on what you need it to do.

I use my calendar religiously and while I am getting better at the Hero's antiquated mundane calendar, I am thinking that an update might come out since one of the number one complaints about the Hero is the battery and the calendar.

What's wrong with the calendar? I can log onto google calendar online and it will automatically update my calendar on my hero. I always get my notifications too! Am I missing soemthing?

Sounds like you already know what to do. Take it back if you are unhappy with it. And I guess i don't understand exactly how a calendar sucks. It has dates on it right? It allows you add events right?

As far as the battery life, it's probably because you have too many apps running in the background. I would suggest downloading a task killing app from the Android market and this should greatly increase your battery life.

The calendar is pretty bad on the Hero. Out of all the smart phones available, the Hero's calendar takes first place in the worst calendar design. It's just awful.

I have advanced task killer and I don't have any apps running except required components.

Funny thing I noticed, however, is that the handset seems to not retain settings after an update. I was beside myself with a 50% battery drain by noon with no activity. I have everything disabled but then I noticed that after I received a text message on some days the phone starts draining. Days where I don't get a market update...the battery was fine all day.

I am beginning to think that I might just have a "bad" unit to be honest. I guess that happens every now and then. I...

I absolutely agree... the calendar is what makes me want to take the Hero back. It's deplorable.
