Motorola Droid getting another non-Gingerbread update
Posted on 04. Dec, 2010 by chetan in Cellphone News

Verizon wireless just posted the changelog mentioning the changes that would be made in the coming update of software in the Motorola Droid phone. There are quite few improvements made in the OS that promises to take the interface and the user experience to the next level, although it’s not a major upgrade like Gingerbread (Android 2.3 that is expected to come in the first quarter of 2011). The OS change is going to be a minor update to the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system. The update is for the A855 model.

There are quite a few changes made in the operating system that actually changes something in the applications, including -

â—¦The twitter application is updated with support for the new authentication system for logging into twitter or any other 3rd party applications of twitter.
â—¦Updated Amazon widget.
â—¦The news and weather widget is updated.
â—¦A new gmail user interface is added.
Apart from the above improvements, the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync was also updated with a few improvements -

â—¦The updated software for Droid handles the server-side inactivity timeout for 34 minutes or greater.
â—¦A policy refresh is enough to sync the emails in the phone with the server.
â—¦Added a support for Exchange 2010 connections.
