i already got the card last month, cost me 200 bucks. its its nice that verizon decided to sell the card after they've been advertising their phones take the card for almost a yr. now, way to go verizon right on top of all the latest technology.

the card just came out in the states a little more than a month ago (commercially that is). this is the first phone they've launched since then.

Nice try though.

In addition to what menno said, I'd like to point out that that even though the wait was a bit longer, you could have saved yourself $50, to boot, since the full price they are selling for is $150. When you consider how much data 32Gb really is, $150 isn't unreasonable.

so.. they put a freaking bomb in the bootloader of thex. try to flash something not motorola approved, it perma-bricks your phone.. And when asked why they are locking down all their phones, they said "if you want to mess with custom roms, get a Nexus One."

So sad. Looks like I'll be switching to something other than a moto phone when I get a new device.

Well according to this the it might just be a rumor that your X will brick. I can't upgrade for a while now so it doesn't really hurt me any. Even though I wouldn't mind having the X

I got an interesting email from Verizon about upgrading to a DroidX, but 1) until someone confirms or refutes the electronic fuses, I'm pretty leery, and 2) I'm pretty sure I won't actually qualify for an upgrade until November, without adding a line, which seems pointless.

In fairness, nobody I trust has confirmed or denied the booby traps (and I'm with Android Central on this one, if Motorola is going to twiddle bits and do that sort of thing, then they really do, IMO, have a responsibility to let people know)

For my money, i'm really leaning towards the Samsung Galaxy series; they seem pretty comparable, but even better CPU (& GPU, to boot). Of course, if I have to wait until November, maybe there'll be something even better.

That if you try to root or install a custom ROM on the Droid X that it will pretty much lock the phone in bootloader mode so you can not use it. Unless you send it back to Moto, and let them do what they need to do to let it boot up normal again.
