It's my understanding that it doesn't have WiFi enabled, but otherwise supposed to be pretty functional.

Here is my setup:
-2.2 Froyo build that was leaked a few days ago
-1.2ghz overclocked Kernal (also fixed Wifi)
-Flash Is installed (though kinda buggy.. dont think it is the Droid optimized version)

Quadrant Standard Results (benchmarking): http://twitpic.com/1un116
--As a side note, I would love it if someone would post their results from a 2.1 build.
Linpack: 16.812-18.663 Mflops

First off, this build is STABLE. I haven't had any random reboots, overheating, or "force closes"

When you initially install, it takes a LONG time. I was afraid I bricked my device because it sat at the Motorola logo for a good couple of minutes. But it booted up.

On the initial boot, it seems to have a "ramp up time" where the device will b...

AWSOME!! thanks menno.

A comment about the initial sluggishness: I suspect that's because of JIT. JIT stands for "just in time", and what it actually does is compile the (java based) app into processor native code on the fly. Once the compile is done, the app runs as native code, not java interpreted, so it will be much much faster, at the expense of being sluggish while it is compiling, becuase it is trying to run the app and run the compiler at the same time.

I just tried making several calls with my phone using a Plantronics Voyager headset.

It was flawless. Everyone's favorite robo voice from Google Maps gave the prompts.

Seriously.. if you are rooted, I see very little reason NOT to get this device, unless you have a heavily customized rom.

There are a lot of really LITTLE tweaks that make the experience a lot nicer.

-If you have your phone in the cardock and tell it to call someone, it will AUTOMATICALLY put you on speaker if there is no bluetooth connected.
-Pull it out of the car dock while on a call, and it goes to normal mode.
-The Downloads, and call logs are threaded, meaning they are MUCH easier to read.
-The settings menu is cleaned up. Sound and display have their own sections now.
-the screen rotates into landscape view no matter which way you are holding it (keyboard up or down)
-I'm using the new baseband radio (for signal) that was also leaked. Signal seems MUCH stronger and battery life is significantly improved.
-The stock keyboard will now provide pu...

Did on your suggestion, you aren't kidding, it's amazing.

One downside, though: it WILL reinstall your apps for you (nice) but it doesn't preserve all the settings (for example, I use touiter as a twitter client, which allows you to colorize tweets, and set custom colors. those custom colors were lost (although Titanium backup might have been able to recover those).

Also your desktop customizations, whatever widgets you have installed. Granted none of that is *hard* to deal with, but it is something you are going to have to do, so if you embark on this path, you'll know what to expect.

yeah, the wipe will happen anytime you're not doing an official OTA and switching between OS versions

With 2.2, app developers do have the oppertunity to backup app data to your gmail account.. lets hope more take it.
