Most who have rooted their phones have disabled over the air updates.
Otherwise, it probably would affect them, as the root exploit probably doesn't work for native 2.1 (most likely they have closed the loophole that allows it)

Oh, I'm sure smart & savvy enough Android geeks will find a way to root 2.1 if that's what they want. Android is an open OS.

Ah, flash isn't that big a deal to me. I know Adobe's working on it though.

How many times do we have to tell you that flash isn't up to mtorola or Google or verizon (thus will most likely NEVER be part of an official release), but is completely dependent on Adobe to develop and publish a compatible version??!!????
Since it's a third-party product, once it is released in anything more than a 'flash-lite' capability, it will be available in the marketplace, like every other third party app.
(flash-lite is a slightly different animal, in that it is designed to be directly embedded into a browser. However, it also isn't fully flash compliant (I don't think it supports ActionScript, for example) I am somewhat surprised that there isn't a flash-lite browser out there, but then, given the phone should be able to...

I'm not questioning that "official" 2.1 will be rooted; probably much sooner than 2.0 was rooted. Just opining that most people who have rooted their phones, have disabled OTA updates, so they won't be affected.
I'm pretty sure most of the 2.1 roms floating around out there are rooted, but it would be a pain to have to re-root the phone, again. As well as completely unnecessary.
