VZW_data_plan_required?
I know that a data plan is required for the phone is there any trick around this? Like have the data plan X number of months then down grade to a cheaper plan with or without penalty?

As long as the device is active on your account you have to have the data plan. The only work around this to go with a phone that dosent have that requirement.

The phone WILL NOT WORK without data, period.
EVERYTHING with this phone is tied to the internet in some form.
On top of that, the phone will refuse to activate on a verizon plan without an email and web package.
If you insist you will never use data, this is NOT the phone for you.
