Stop Comparing it; Its No iPhone

xzavier2008

I'll admit it. Its a nice phone with some potential, but in the end its just another phone trying to compete with the iPhone. Doesn't anyone get it; as long as you keep comparing the next best thing or the latest new phone to the iPHone your admitting that the iPHone is still on top.
When the iPhone came out did it compair itself to any of the other phones saying it was the better....NO it didn't and NO it hasnt. It stood on its own merits. So let the Droid stand on its own as well. If this phone thinks its better than the iPhone than it should prove it based on what it has BY ITS SELF 🙄
The iPhone (when first launched) came out swing and now based on the latest numbers is on the top.
The makers dont understand that Apple makes a p...

Looks like someones worried that the Droid will be better. 🤣 Why comment?

I'm actually sick of people comparing Verizon to AT&T. AT&T wishes their network was like Verizon, truth is it will never be. Yet people compare them to each other everyday.

So you guys can keep your precious Iphone, and us Verizon customers will keep the a contending phone on a way better network....

A phone is only as good as it's network is.

I would never go as far as to say ATT network will never be as good (or better than) VZW's....thats a little too presumptuous, to say the least. If you want to say that I guess you could also say that VZW will never have a phone as well-rounded and appealing a...

hey...fanboy neutering... Are you serious.
When the Iphone was first released it was one of the most locked down advance devices ever created. Quick examples (bluetooth, battery had to go through Apple, ringtones go through apple, everything through Apple) That was just to name a few. You call that simple, many call it Neutering!! Apple is by far a bigger control freak then Verizon. Yes I am aware they have loosened up on a few of those issues, but don't go bashing Verizon and google for neutering a phone. The Droid is OPEN DEVELOPMENT. That means anyone can create anything for it and share it with anyone! And as far as Verizon goes this phone is launching with WIFI (and backed by the largest 3g coverage in the US) as well as having Google M...

Apples headquarters in Cupertino (I have been there)is a not a sovereign country with it's own GDP. The article is talking about Gross Margins 😲

The dismal failure of Vista, superiority of OSX, and having the Mp3 market cornered are other reasons that contributed to their success too

It is even ok to come in here and flame

IT IS NOT COOL to write bogus reviews..... that makes you lame. There is no way you purchased this phone, there is no way this review is legit....and even if you hated it that is one thing but to rate it 0 just discredits everything you say about it and tells me you are just a blind fanboy (which would be ok if you didn't stretch to the point of writing bogus reviews)

I am talking worldwide market share.. the iphone isn't just sold on one carrier in the world. It is a very successful device and I like it a lot.... just don't think it is god's gift to the world like so many peole on this site that just blindly defend it as if it was. there are many things it has going for it, but for many people... me included it is missing some much needed things that would make it perfect......and there are many worthy options out there if one can open their mind.

As far as one device... I am hoping that apple creates multiple devices.. or better yet open it up like android and let the manufacturers do what they can with the core iphone ui... that would be awesome but I don't see it happening anytime soon

I doubt very much you'll ever see it. Apple treasures their UI too much, and they don't want someone putting it on hardware that isn't up to the challenge.

Of course, rumor has it that google practically designed the Droid, too, so I guess it is possible.

Did you even watch the video tour? The phone has not been castrated by Verizon. It has all the standard look and feel of a ... well, Android phone.

It has speed and smoothness to it, possibly due to that new 550 MHz processor (iPhone 3G runs 412) and the fact that they are using the GPU to render the desktop for a change.

It also has a high resolution display. 852x480 is 480p widescreen (with a tad of bar banding on the sides). The camera is ridiculously high quality for a phone (5MP AF with Flash & 480p 24FPS Video capture?), and it has WiFi.

Your're right, it's not an iPhone. Its better than the iPhone! I'm sure AT&T is wetting themselves over this. This device will do everything the iPhone can't. Better camera, GPS, memory, software/apps, battery, USB/charger, on a better network, etc.

Look how many times Apple had to release the iPhone before it was decent. Look how long it took the iPhone before it could send a PIX message or have 3G, I mean really! All that technology and it took the iPhone a long time to even do basic phone features. To change the battery you have to send it off. And it's on a second best network. Waste of money if you ask me.

Motorola was king when the RAZR was released. Then the iPhone took the throne....now Motorola is ready to take leader...

I love it "AT&T is wetting themselves."

How many times have we heard this? It reminds me of the new Mac commercial that's on TV. The Storm was going to kill the iPhone, the Samsung Instinct was going to kill the iPhone, the Pre was going to kill the iPhone, etc etc....

People have such short memories and are so bitter at the iPhone - a decent device with a far superior user experience. You can talk camera resolution (which means absolutely nothing by the way), removable battery, and multitasking all you want - the average person will still pick the iPhone over the droid.

Go ahead though, let it all out, kick and scream, cry about the network, the USB charger (wow really?), and whatever else you can come up with. I'll be here pla...

I have the new Moto and it is great! The Iphone is not! It was GOOD when it came out but after 3 years it still isn't able to do things that much simpler and cheaper phones can do. Speed, network, reliability, camera resolution and the ability to have apps are all legitimate concerns for people to have! The average person will pick the Iphone because they are a slave to there own inadequacies! They feel that they are not cool if they don't have this or that. They feel people will think less of them for not having the newest coolest most expensive toy on the block! Thats a fact of life and is in no way restricted to phones!

People need to compare and contrast. There's no point in defending the phone because no matter what happens, something will get compared to the iPhone.
The main reason that people compare to the iPhone is because is's probably the most capable phone on the market and now with new phones coming out with similar features, it needs to be compared and contrasted.

Why not?

Look the point is that the iphone is a very nice product. It is pretty polished, and it absolutely set a new standard for HTML browsing on a phone, as well as great handling of Imap email, and cool apps etc. Apple really controlled the experience (as they do with all there stuff).

It is also a fairly capable convergence device. Stand alone GPS, email, browsing, voice and mp3 player with some nice video playback as well. Easy for consumers to use but not cheep.

This phone seems like it will offer almost all of this and then some. The added versatility will come at the expense of some ease of use. Itunes playlist and downloading of movies, podcasts and music, syncing and Apple vetted applications. This will ...

I understand that it annoys you to have someone dare compare their phone to the iphone. Of course, it is not nor ever will be an iphone. We have to understand that other manufacturers will always compare themselves to the iphone. Just as automotive companies will compare their offerings to Lexus or BMW or Mercedes etc... You get the gist. It's marketing. It's what they do. Since we both know that this Droid is no iphone, I suggest that we kick back and relax and enjoy this comedy.

Actually, people DO shop for Dodge and buy BMW. People also shop for Lexus and then buy BMW, which is probably more apropos.

Also, at the risk of being called a grammar nazi (isn't it a bit early in this discussion to be bringing out the name calling?), it is "then", not "than". Then again, misusing then/than seems appropriate for the intelligence demonstrated thus far in this discussion.

There are just as many iPhone haters as there are iPhone fanboys. To point out the previous lack of MMS (or lack of a keyboard) is just plain idiotic. If you bought one not being able to read and not knowing that it was lacking this feature - luckily you would have had 30 days to return it. If you bought the iPhone thinking it had a secret hidden keyboard because you really needed a phone with a keyboard, and got it home and found out it didn't - luckily you would have had 30 days to return it. Guess what, my phone doesn't have a flat tire repair it - OH MY GOD IT MUST SUCK! Don't complain about the lack of a feature because if you buy it, than you have accepted this fact.
