BATTERY PROBLEM

I'm not sure if this is an iscolated incident or not but my battery will not last 8 hrs with limited use. There is a discussion going on about it @ androidforums.com. I exchanged my first one the day after I got it and am still having the same issue with my new one. Other reviews I have read seemed to have had no problems with battery. Is it a bad batch of phones/ batteries??

Really figured this would be the case. This is what happens when your using an overclocked processor. I will take a little bit of lag to be able to last through a day any day.

I purchased mine on Wednesday, and have not been able to get more than 4-5 hours before it dies, without making a single call or loading the browser. An hour after taking it off the charger today it was at 80% battery, and down to 5% by 1PM. I charged it fully around then, and I'm down to 15% at 6:45...

The questions between users is this: What kind of syncing are you doing? I have sync turned on to Google mail, contacts and calendar, as that's what I want this phone for. I have bluetooth and wifi off.

Thos of you getting 8 hours using the web: Are you using background sync?

I think the Weather Channel widget is the battery killer. After I deleted it it is much better now. It is trying to get GPS location too often I guess.

I used Moment about 3 days now, and it seems to me that the battery life is pretty good. I can make it through a full day checking emails, downloading apps, and surfing webs. I am wondering if you fully charged the battery before you used the phone because it takes quite a long time since it is an Android OS different from the regular phones. I personally think Samsung made a great device this time and am curious to know how you used the device i.e. downloading? internet use? call time?

The sad thing is was i really wasn't using it a whole lot! I have been so busy at work that I hadn't had too much time to really use it other than when I got home at night. My average day was maybe 5-10 phone calls lasting about 3-5 minues each, less than an 30 minutes internet and a total of about 50 txt msg's. It sounds like several of you are not having the problems I was, but after exchanging the phone once and having the same problem I went back to my PRE. With the same amount of usage on my PRE at the end of the day I would be at about 60-70% battery instead of 5-15% with my moment. Wish that weren't the case but those were my experiences

The problem that i have with my moment is that there are alot of programs that run without you knowing it. If you go to the app store and get the free " ADvance Task Killer" application it will show you and allow you to close them all. This will help alot with your battery. It did for me anyways. I kept telling my GF that I think programs are still running without me knowing because I would stop using them and them come back to them like 3 hours later and its in the same place i left off. And thats games, apps, internet. They all jus kept running. Try the app killer in the marketplace for free.

And if you are in a building where the signal isn't strong, it will suck the life out of the battery. If you're at work and you get barely a signal, or no signal at all, try throwing it on airplane mode.

BTW I have a Rogerrs HTC Magic, at work there is no signal, be it from AT&T to Verizon Wireless with all carriers in between. It really drains the battery.

Yup, that happens with all Sprint phones I have. It happens with my Hero, but when I am in my office where I know it will drain, I just quickly turn off the data on the phone and it saves the heck out of my battery. I don't know about the moment, but with the Hero, just hold down the end call key and it will give the option to turn off data.
