My friend installed some software on my Nokia 5800 to test the parental control feature and it worked perfectly fine.

I think this feature does not come in any Nokia phone. So I am assuming it can be installed on Java based phones.

Although the N900 browser supports javascript the N900 does not support Java applications. Any parental control program that was a stand-alone Java application wouldn't run on the N900 even if it runs on the 5800 XpressMusic which does support a number of Java technologies such as CLDC, MIDP 2.1 and others.

It is unclear from your posting if the parental control application which you referenced was a stand-alone application of a script run within the browser.
