I have seen great review and features but who is HTC? I am not familiar with the company.

They are a very popular and growing company, they make Android phones for TMO and others, made several WM Smartphone's for all the major US carriers for years. Many times they carry the carriers brandname's like Tilt, Apache, Mogul etc.....
