Well, Why?

With all the releases of BB's in the past year, I don't understand the why on this device? I mean the 8900 is similar and a pretty decent device. The Bold is real nice and the Oynx is just around the corner.

It's just an update to the Curve 8320, which was getting old. This is lighter and slimmer, and adds video capture. It doesn't add much else, because there still needs to be a really affordable BlackBerry at the bottom of the lineup. In a way, by not adding more features, they're making this a slightly cheaper, lower-end device than the 8320 was when it was launched. They're expanding the lineup, they're just expanding it down.

If you want more features, that's what the 8900 is for. There is a significant difference between the specs and features of this vs. the 8900, (and the Bold, and other forthcoming higher-end models.)

Just saw the video, seems decent enough. I guess it will sell, and I'm sure in a few months it will be available on at&t if they should want it.

I really don't see a difference between the 8520 and the 8900, minus the outside. I switch phones a lot, but might just keep this one.
