What would happen to the Storm?

Do you want to know why I am certain that a CDMA iPhone will never happen? Two words:

Blackberry Storm

Why would Verizon get the iPhone when they have an exclusive with the touchscreen Blackberry? Why would they knowingly bring competition against their own exclusive phone? Believe me its not worth making RIM made over getting a phone that only a few % of their users would even buy.

hmmmm Storm or Iphone...Are you drunk? Smoking some really potent stuff? Verizon would drop the storm in a heartbeat to get IPhone.

Sure and then RIM would take away the Pearl, Tour, Curve, and Pearl Flip. So is it worth gaining 1 million customers to loose 4 million? I don't think so. 🤣

yes because rim like all companies are into cutting off their nose to spite their face. if verizon got the iphone then rim would either make a similar touch screen phone for sprint/att/t-mobile and get more customers instend of no longer making phones for the largest phone carrier in the u.s. and im sure that pulling all phones from verizons lineup would make vodafone mad or anything. verizon would love to get the iphone because i like many people have left verizon for the iphone and if verizon gets the iphone i will go back to verizon and their larger network. so even if verizon gets the iphone im sure rim wouldnt pull all of their phones regardless of how angry they are

how long is the storm really gonna be exclusive to verizon though... RIM throws their phones out to everyone at a certain point of time. Sure Verizon has the exclusivity right now, but how long is that contract good for?

Not sure how long the exclusive contract is for but the difference between it and the iPhone is that the Storm already supports GSM networks so it could easily work on the AT&T network, where as the iPhone does not support the CDMA network. So if RIM wanted to make a few more coins they could cut off the exclusive contract with Verizon but Apple would have to redesign the iPhone to work with Verizon and it just wouldn't make sense.

Tossing in a CDMA radio is not rocket science, and I bet it has already been done in the lab.

Its not rocket science but its a finacial disaster. Why would they? They are making mad bank with AT&T why sour that deal?

how would that sour the deal they would if anything be making more money u seem to forget that verizon has like 80million customers so allowing those people the ability to get the iphone will only benifit apple by selling phones, apple waranties, apps, and assorted goodies from itunes. the only one who would hurt from sprint t-mobile and verizon getting the iphone would be at&t not apple

I really doubt that. At the most, they will open up the Storm or Storm II to all comers. RIM is not stupid. VZW and other carriers sell a ton of BB's. And still would even with the iPhone in their stables.

But I will say this, if VZW and/or Sprint were offered the iPhone, they'd take it in a New York minute. And while I'm an AT&T iPhone user, I think it would be great for it to be available to other carriers. (you can toss TMO into that too)

Sprint will not, now that they have the Palm Pre.

Palm Pre > iPhone = truth

the only reason NON-business people bought the Storm was be cause they COULDN'T buy the iPhone on Verizon.

It was the Storm or the Dare and they took the better of 2 evils

Why would apple not want to tap into the Verizon customer base? Who is to say that they won't offer something to compeat with the netbooks? By the way nothing will happen to the storm with the sw update it is a great device, I love mine.
