A friend and I went to the Apple store yesterday to check out the 3G S just in case it turned out to be so wonderful that we could not resist upgrading.

There were a few factors that made me consider upgrading. They were...

1. A faster processor
2. Better graphics
3. Better camera
4. Voice commands

Here is what I found regarding each feature.

Faster processor: The added speed is almost unnoticeable during regular non-gaming operation. On the same wifi system my 3G phone performed almost identically with Safari and Google maps. The 3G S might have had a slight edge about 60% of the time but it was so slight you would not notice it if not going head to head. It also lost by the same argin about 40% of the time.

Forgot video I have kids and It sure is nice to have that.

One thing that I noticed is I never see that checker boxes when your waiting for the screen to load as your scrolling through a wesite. Even if I was going back up through a page I already looked at my 3g would give me checkers if I scrolled to fast.(wifi)

All in all I say it's worth it at 399 already have a couple of friends who want my old 3g can sell it them and they can use it on AT&T with out a contract. Or jailbrake it and sell it on eBay from what I see it should almost pay for my 3gs. I just had mine replaced so it only a month old. Has 600mhz processor, versus 412mhz & 256k ram versus 128k, unit is much faster, once you use it awhile. Video is great (can be emailed) & better camera. Camera Pro avail before to long in apps. Touch screen much less smug-able (special coating!!). Capable of 16 home pages versus 8. Sell 3G, 16GB easily for $200. New 3Gs,16GB $200, with 2 year contract, should be no brainer!?! Multitude of small tweaks, extended batt.life, etc.,etc., etc. 😎
