Annoyances with the Tour

I have been a long time Blackberry user and the Tour is so far a fantastic device, however, there are some things that I'm really annoyed with:

1. You can't turn off the shutter sound on the camera
2. Even when you force the light on in camera mode, it doesn't come on until you snap the picture
3. The message list doesn't have the options to "filter sender" and "filter subject"
4. Verizon removed the OTA firmware upgrade (Wireless Upgrade) option from the Options -> Advanced Options menu
5. You cannot transfer media to the device via Bluetooth
6. No themes are currently supported, even the multi-platform generic ones
7. The Storm ships with an 8GB MicroSD card, and is on sale for $149 with a $70 rebate, whereas the Tour is $1...

2. This could be because it's a flash. The only phone I've been able to force the light on full time on is the Boulder.

4. In advanced options go to service book, delete Provisioning [OSTL} and then undelete it. then go to the registry and select "register now. Do a battery pull and boot up the phone. This might cause the update to show. We had to do this with every storm when they first launched.

7. They are working on a storm 2 that will most likely launch this year. the tour is brand new. It's going to cost more (though an 8 gig would be nice)

8. is your car charger an official charger? Ive seen this happen with off-market chargers from time to time.

9. if it's like the storm, the apps arn't loaded, there are just...

Sounds like the majority of the issues you have is not with the phone, but with VZW (BT disabled, Firmware upgrade disabled, pre-loaded apps can't be deleted).

Sounds like you don't know what you're talking about. 🙄

Bluetooth has multiple profiles, not every phone with bluetooth will support OBEX. Quite a few phones allow OBEX now, but that doesn't mean every phone will. Apple disabled bluetooth on their ipod touch because the technology actually existed, they just coded it not to work. It doesn't exist on every phone. if it did, there would already be countless hacks online to activate it because blackberry is on multiple carriers. Also, you can't transfer something from a BREW phone (a game whatever) to a blackberry that is an OS issue, not OBEX. The Tour does not support OBEX.

Wireless update is a VERIZON feature, not a blackberry feature. It's also known as OTA. I haven't p...

I agree with some of your points, but I have some insight (or just my two cents) on a few of them:

1. There's an application out there called BerryAnnoying that disables the camera shutter sound. I know it's dumb that you need an application just to accomplish this, but if it really drives you nuts, it only costs a few bucks and will eradicate this issue.

2. I agree with the other person that said this is because it's a flash, not a flashlight. I do agree with you, however, that it would be nice to be able to keep it turned on for the latter purpose.

5. You can transfer pictures, sounds, and videos via Bluetooth, but it's a little more complicated than some of the non-BlackBerry phones I've used where you can just tap ...
