SIM slot NOT unlocked?!?!

wtf? All reports say the GSM part of this phone is UNLOCKED, but that just aint true! 🤨

I tried an AT&T SIM in the slot and I can't get around the requests for a SIM number the phone keeps asking me for. The same SIM works fine in another phone- and no SIM password was required to use it in that phone (an AT&T branded Curve)... just no go in the Intrepid.

I inputed the SIM identifier I got from from AT&T tech support, but that didn't work. Sprint is clueless (as usual) and wanted me to contact the "International Roaming Department", so I guess my only option is Samsung?

Or maybe I can get this thing unlocked aftermarket? Anyone have any ideas on this?

btw, otherwise this phone is AWESOME. Is there any other phone ...

Actually, you can 'unlock' the sim card for this phone for free and Sprint will even help you do it.

First, go to Settings, then Personal, then Phone. You will find a Security tab. On that tab is the SIM Lock button. This is asking for the MSL code. It is a 6 digit number.

Call up Sprint customer service and ask them for it. If they ask you why you want it, just tell them that you want it. If your contract is up, they will give it to you with no problems.

You can then use the phone with any service that has a GSM sim card. Don't forget to switch over to GSM service.
