Re: Build quality issues. Anybody else have this?
I am absolutely sick of people who constantly say, just get an iPhone. You probably don't even own this phone, so why are you even talking here. I will never buy another Apple product, especially an iphone. If I wanted an all touch device I'll get an omnia hd. I can't stand Apple's OS, their designs, their name, and people who talk it up like it's the greatest thing ever made. This is my 5th Nokia in the last 3 years and I expect the best because that's what i expect from everything. My E71 is perfect in terms of build. But this has let me down. Don't get me wrong. I absolutely love this phones form factor and its build is the best i've ever felt for an Nseries, but having a keyboard where all three rows have different feeling, and these terribly tuned stereo speakers will always annoy me until they get fixed. My N95, in typical Nokia fashion was also indestructable. But it still had a ****load design/build flaws, and the only reason I forgot about them was because the power of the phone blew my mind, not to mention I didn't have to deal with wacky key feeling that worsens my experience. This phone is great, and I'm defintely keeping it, but mine has an issue with the keyboard that I was trying to figure out is something other users are experiencing as well. I'm not some stupid Apple fanboy who's on here to talk **** and that's it.
I own this phone and don't Obsess over the stupid little things that mean nothing in function, Like creaking plastic, slight imperfections, a dead pixel, the keyboard is better then the one I had on the N95...enough said there. The handwriting recognition is better than the palm pilot. I have no issues with build quality or operation. My issue is with PC SUITE and the OVI Store. Music Manager doesn't even open and the Ovi store is a mess.
BTW I sold two 3Gs phones after singing my first contract in 6 years to get them and sell them for $1400. I use one for a coupe weeks and liked it well enough to buy an itouch. But as a phone it sucked. As a gadget it worked well. Not worth $30 "Apple Tax" data though
Those who want a perfect form in their phone should just buy an iPhone. They are solidly built and mega easy to use with a ton of applications and universal support.
The Omnia is made by a company that makes refrigerators and TVs, not exactly a focused wireless phone company like Nokia....I would not think of buying a "highend" Samsung phone.
