LG LX-290 / 290c

I discovered how to complete a voice command with the LG phone, but is there a 'short cut' to do that? I mean, by the time I go to 'tools', then choose 'voice commands', I could be talking already with a simple speed dialer. The point is that I don't want to use a speed dialer. I want to be able to hit a button and speak a name to call someone. Is that not possible?
