Sounds like you have a broken phone. Take it in.
I haven't had any problems with mine, btw. In fact, the 530 has been a great phone for me, and if you check the user reviews on this site, they are by and large very positive.
If you were to ditch your phone and go for something else, I'd steer you towards either the Samsung 670, the LG VX-6100, or the Audiovox 9900 (if you can find one- some say 9900s are discontinued).
