I had a similar problem with my Moto IHF1000 car kit. I also have the IHF1700 and a couple of other bluetooth devices in my profile. After several attempts, this is how I resolved the issue:

- delete ALL existing connection profiles
- restart phone
- start bluetooth and turn visibility "OFF" (very important)
- secure mode: try "off" first, then "on" if not successful
- initiate a search

Before I did these steps, I would not be prompted to enter a passcode, the connection would fail.

Good luck!
