LG enV Touch VX-11000
new update
There is a new update out and it would be version vx11kv08. The only thing I see that changed would be the browser and thats big in my book. It now uses the Polaris Browser 7.0, and if you use the internet at all you will love it. It now has like a HTC key board that pops up on the lower half of the screen to type in. You can get this update at your local verizon store they should have it in.

its like a QWERTY keyboard that pops up on the bottom of the screen while the web page is still pulled up. Its really nice also it seems to make the touch more accuarte.

Thanks for the info, Do you know what else the 08 update does to the phone? Asked verizon but they said it was purly technical.

The only thing I noticed is the browser. Its is worth the update just for that it makes the touch closer to a a smart phone. When using the browser now the web looks much better and it might just be me but the touch seems to be more accurate.

I'm thinking of getting LG enV Touch VX-11000 and all I read are bad reviews. Is this a bad idea?
Is it really true that as long as I have the latest and greatest software updates it will actually function?
Why do we have to take the phone to the store for software updates?
We currently have a Palm Centro which honestly satisfies my needs. We are going to switch to Verizon and for what I want I don't have too many choices. I want a QWERTY board for messaging. So either we get the LG Touch or the Samsung Rogue.

It is a good phone for messaging and the touch works really well. I am not sure why we cannot get over the air updates on this phone. When it first came out it was supposed to but never has been able to. The internet really is nice since it got updated to the new bowser. it does restart sometimes just like any other LG phone but not too bad. What I would suggest is going into the store and trying both phones out but I have heard nothing good about the samsung rogue. The Samsung Reality is coming out for verizon on the 22nd if you want to check that one out also. Good luck!

i totally agree with you if they are releasing a software update they should not be working on the browser that is the least of this phones problems, the screen still goes black and wont come back on will this new version fix that? the phone still reboots itself and I'm on 07 software will the new software correct that? and this is my fifth replacement and i use a extended battery and the phone without any use at all sometimes uses all of the battery, this is the worst lg phone ever and i have had most of them up to this one. thats what i want the new software to address.

Yea I heard but do you know of any changes? The only thing I heard it is supposed to do is to help with the phone cutting off but that would be good.

i got the 09 software update and i can tell you that it has not done anything for the problems the phone has been having, the back light still goes out when your making a call and it does not come back on unless i hang it up, it still has not corrected the headset problem when i cant hear at times when i make a call. nothing has changed still same problem and this is phone number 5

the back light is supposed to go off when you have a call. there is a square light sensor in the top left corner of the phone so when you put it up to your face the back light goes off... the problem being if you are in a room that is not well lit you will find that your touch keypad does not come back up and you may have to use the inside of your phone. that can be an irritating flaw but that has been the issue for me....
