Speakerphone?

The only question I have for this and phones like the env3 is can you use the speakerphone with the flip closed. I hate to walk around on speaker with the phone open like a communicator from star trek!

I spoke with a store rep about the speakerphone. He said that the speaker output is on the inside panel and the speakerphone feature works best when the phone is in the open position.

Personally, I use the speakerphone setting when I'm on hold and very rarely to talk. Bluetooth headset is the way to go for hands-free talking. He also recommended using the H15 over the cheaper BT headset that's bundled at VZ for $60. His comment was "you get what you pay for".

Good luck! I just ordered the Touch based on reviews and can't wait to put it through it's paces.

Thank you for your response. I understand that the output is on the inside panel. It is also on my i760 smartphone - but that works when its not slid open. I am not concerned with it working best and in what position - the idea that it either does or does not work.

I also am not the biggest fan of bluetooth headsets, but thats a different story - really only concerned with the speaker, hopefully you will let us know when you get your touch if it works. Thanks!

You probably have the answer to this already. I personally love the speaker phone because it allows me to hold the mic very close. And strangely enough I’ve been using the speaker phone with the volume set all the way down, because any louder it’s really loud. Maybe it has something to do with the whole CDMA thing?

It works just like the voyager. You have to open it up to turn speakerphone on. The speakers still play if you then close the lid, but the lid is now closed on the speakers which muffles them somewhat. Whether you think that "works" is a matter of opinion. It's not a yes or no question. Go to the verizon store and try it out.
