Verizon is officially crazy (as if they werent before).

There should be no mandatory data plan for anything - ok... PDAs fine, everyone's doing it - but for regular phones? that's absurd.

I've watched and wanted this phone for a while, glad its finally out - sorry that I will have to pass on it for the extra fee, ill stick with my enV touch.

The Instinct is a feature phone and it requires a data plan, the Nokia Surge is a texting phone that requires a texting plan.

Other carriers are doing it.

The phone is built for web browsing and messaging. In order to offer it for 100, verizon put the extra data requirement on it.

Why exactly would you want this phone without planning on using the data, especially considering you have the Touch?

I also was unable to see how this is more internet geared than the average phone that has just been released in that category. And lastly, my preferences on phones chance, and I enjoy going in and ...

Seriously? Why would anyone get a phone like this if they don't want to use it's features?? It's $10/month, that's nothing.

👿 I've been researching wireless companies and I too am infuriated at Verizon’s policies on phone plans. If I buy a convertible and choose to drive with the top up does that mean I can't have one.

No. That means that you buy a different model on the showroom floor, i.e. LG enV Touch.
