Jack - First Impression

I went in to AT&T this afternoon and found the Jack in stock, and since I had researched the phones in my price range, I decided to give it a go. I'm new to Windows Mobile, coming from a RAZR V3xx (which I love), so it's going to be quite a learning curve. I like the look and feel of this phone. It fits nicely in the hand, it's got a nice screen, and I'm starting to get the hang of the keyboard.

I do have a concern, and it's the call quality. I have a full set of bars, but I find the volume during a call fluctuates almost rhythmically, soft-loud-soft-loud (including while it's ringing). I'm not losing any signal bars, and the fluctuation happens on the handset and via the bluetooth headset. My RAZR is just flat-out loud, so this seems we...

Just an FYI: I went into the AT&T store to check out the Jack display model, and it did the voice fluctuation thing, too. As did the Epix, the Propel Pro, and the BlackJack II -- they all sounded exactly like my phone, no difference at all. I guess it's just a Samsung thing, and maybe I'm just too picky, as most folks who've reviewed this phone don't even notice it.

BTW, the two other makes/models I tried didn't sound very good at all: the Nokia e71x was okay on clarity, but the volume was really low, even on its max setting - I had a lot of trouble hearing the only moderately busy store. The BB Bold I tried sounded terrible - crackly, tinny sound.

I've decided that, unless something really goes wrong with this phone in the next week...
