Is there no micro sd card slot to expand the memory once that 8GB of space is gone?

LOL, you've gotta be kidding me. This is a media-centric phone, and we've had feature phones with memory expansion capability for many years now. The original Iphone came out 2 years ago with just 8GB, and they moved to a 8 and 16GB offering last year, and 16 and 32GB this year. And the Pre comes out this year with only 8GB? What are we gonna do when we wanna add more video, movies, music, etc? I have a Storm and a Bold, and use 9GB up right now, and I'm about to get a 16GB card to use, and later a 32GB, but with the Pre, I'll just have to remove stuff that I want to add more when the 8GB is filled up? That really sucks!

sounds like the pre is not for you. the funny thing is, the more technology forward my phones have gotten, the less i've needed huge sticks of memory.

Music? Slacker radio / Pandora / whatever
Videos? Stream them, or live with 8gb, do you really burn through 8gb of video in one setting that you can't just shuffle others out later?
Pictures? I just upload them right from my phone or move them to my hard drive.

but if you either a) have a ton of media that sits on your phone then get's infrequent usage but makes you feel cool so you can say you need 16bg cards on forums or b) burn that kind of time going through more then 8gb worth of media in a day, then the Pre probably just isn't a good option for ya.

I didn't find the correct choice in what you listed above, so I guess I'd say, d) none of the above.

For me, I have more music and videos than the Pre can handle at one time, and the Pre, unlike most modern feature phones, has no expandable memory, so I'd have to remove some stuff when it gets to 8Gb limit, rather than having the convenience of just getting a larger memory card, or just swapping cards. Yes the Iphone has no expandable memory either, and that is just stupid imo, but at least it offers a 16GB option, and soon a 32GB option. And you are probably right, maybe the Pre is not for me.

Does the Iphone have a memory slot, no, but it has double the memory of the Pre, at 16GB, and the one that will be released in a few months has a 32GB option as well. I hope that answers your question.

I guess you can skip the phone then. No need to waste anymore time!

"Does the Iphone have a memory slot?, no! "
That is a bad answer. I happen to think the Pre looks great but a memory card slot would be a plus I think to just about anybody. Okay it may make it .5mm bigger but I would make that trade off.
Not a deal breaker but I don't think that the iPhone has reached unquestioning perfection.

There is no perfect phone out there, but I would have to agree that not having removable memory is a little strange in this category of phones. It's also a minus for the iphone

People like you could find a way to complain about a million dollars. Hows your pessimistic lifestyle working for you?

With all the features the phone offers, if 8 GB of memory bothers you then please dont buy it.

Yes, the Pre has some very good features, I've had an Iphone, and the blackberry Storm, and many other smartphones and dumbphones, but I am not limited to just 8GB on any of them. Even LAST YEAR'S Iphone 3G had a 16GB, and the one to be released in 2 months will have a 32GB, and most of the advanced dumbphones and smartphones can accept at least 16GB memory cards. The Pre is touted for being a media/consumer centric device, yet is uses a cap of 8GB which was on the low end of memory capacity for LAST YEAR'S Iphone. Doesn't make much sense to me. But, you are right, I won't be buying it. Sorry that I gave my opinion and it has obviously offended you and hurt your feelings.

No body will actually use 32gb of memory on a phone. Its so stupid to complain about. The only way that would be possible is if you had thousands of songs on it and then i would ask why dont you just buy an MP3 player?

I have an Ipod Touch with 8 gb, it is a pain because I always have it full. If you put 1 kb over the 8 gb (actually 7 in reality) it refuses to sync. I could easily fill 32 gb. As time marches on 8 (and 32) gb will seem pathetically small My first computer had 20 KB!!! (Comodore Vic 20)

But for price point TODAY (which is same as a 8 gb Ipod Touch) and BASIC functionality 8 gb makes economic since. In two years Palm will have a device with more storage, better camera, blah blah blah...

I have a Touch Diamond w/ 4GB of internal memory and I always put songs on my phone; take 3.2 MP shots, have a few videos, other DL's and Im only using a little over 2GB... maybe 1/100 people will NEED more than 8GB; Im sure they thought about the cost to increase more memory and decided that 1% isnt worth it; plus it gives the next new Pre room for improvement = better future sales. This will still be the best phone on the market when its released.

Any Itune user I know will want more than 8 gb. I bought my 8 gb Ipod Touch and instantly had it full.

But that is not the point. The price point is the point. $200 is a great price to bring out this device.

They can make a super new and improved for the power user device later. 8 gb is a trade off price point - same reason I bought a 8 gb Ipod Touch not the 16!
