yep CDMA so no sim cards needed..
it's not a gsm device..
dunno though if they'll be comming up with a gsm version for the rest of the world in the future..
if there will be one it'll be next year coz Sprint has this phone exclusive to them until the end of the year..

Bell Canada will get a CDMA version, then there will be a Euro GSM version -(unlocked in the US will only have Edge access). No GSM networks in the US will have their brand on the Pre, Sprint will be the only US carrier with the Pre.

Sprint does have exclusivity but only thru Q4 of this year.
As of now T mo is looking very hard at this phone and from what I understand Apple is pressuring ATT to not get this phone as it will take away some of their client base.

You are referring to a RUMOR and speculation at best. When Palm and Sprint were asked about "an exclusice deal", Palm and Sprint officially said, "no comment." The Pre is to Sprint, what the Iphone is to ATT, the Storm is to Verizon and the G1 is to Tmo. This is Sprints flagship device, if you want to believe other US carriers will get the Pre after Sprint, go ahead. Tmo?? PLEASE!! IF ATT's network can't handle a high capacity device (the iphone) what makes you think Tmo's much spottier network can handle a different high capacity device? (Palm Pre).

While it may be rumor, I'm pretty sure there will be a GSM device on the way. The GSM version supports both Euro and NA 3G Frequencies. http://www.gsmarena.com/palm_pre-2726.php

That and there is another WebOS device coming out this fall for AT&T, not the Pre and not as nice, but one nevertheless.

They have already announced a GSM version for Europe. It was shown off at MWC in February. It's exactly the same, just GSM+3G.
