The manual for this phone states that it will accept up to a 16GB SD memory card - but then states that only a 2GB card is recommended as the phone "may have difficulty" in recognizing the extra memory. Un huh - and yes, I had the same problems as you in getting the phone to recognize an 8GB SD card - I have 4 of them, all from different manufacturers and this phone had problems with all of them. Just another reason not to buy this phone - I had it and could not deal with the poor interface in the music player and lousy, muddy sound quality on phone calls and music. If you are still within the 30 day return period, see if you can trade this in for something better. If not, try complaining about the problems (in a firm but pleasant way) and see if they will allow you to get something else. Good luck.
