Common Features?

by arthur.dent    Aug 4, 2009, 9:39 PM

Ok - I gave up my old old old blue motorola for an LG Banter. Seemed ok in the store but now that I realize it is missing some important features my moto had - I am looking at the LG Tritan. Unfortunately it looks like these features are missing from this phone too and, frankly, I am SHOCKED! These features seem like real no-brainers to me. Obvious things - but perhaps I am just an odd duck.

1. Vibrate THEN ring. Not ring and vibrate at the same time - that is nearly useless. I want my phone to vibrate for 4 or 5 rings, then automatically switch to the set ring tone. This is IMPORTANT! Because I am in meetings most of my day I HAVE to leave my phone on vibrate. It is very disrespectful to have a cell phone ring in any business meeting. With vibrate-then-ring I can casually reach down and press any button and the phone shuts up. However - if i misplace my phone (falls into the couch - etc) I can still call it and find it when it starts to ring. Also - when I set the phone on my desk, or in the kitchen I can still answer a call when it starts to ring. I got very used to this feature on my moto phone and simply can't believe it's not standard on ALL phones!

2. Speaker Phone time-out. My moto would automatically switch the speaker phone off after 20 seconds after I hung up. The current phones leave it on, and on, and on FOREVER! So - when I take a call EVERYONE can hear my wife ask how my day is going. Again - this seemed like a no-brainer to me.

Does Motorola have a patent on these features?
