While some changes are pushed OTA, the process updating to O/S 5 is too extensive to perform over the air.
I periodically checked OTA and no update was available, although I would notice changes in icons. Then one day I finally loaded up the Device Manager and the major update was available. My phone rebooted several times and took over an hour to update.
