Did you do a battery pull after you removed the link? If that doesn't work, try removing the pin from the contact, that way there is no way that the BB can link the two. It will be forced to consider the two as different contacts. From what I've read, I think we are SOL (unless we remove the link and pin). I think that's the way it works...for now. Just a quick question though, why would someone that your friend has on BBM txt him anyway?
