Crippled Wi-Fi!

The Storm2 is a really nice phone! Sharp screen, easy to type on, both in landscape and protrait mode, fast, and feels really well built. Until you want to access your emails via wi-fi!

I spent two days with VZW data support, dlink, and even Blackberry support & guess what? The only way you can access any Blackberry services is through the VZW mobile network!

Apparently the only thing VZW allows on wi-fi is browsing the internet (oh joy!) and LAN hookups for printers, etc. I have had other wi-fi Blackberries; in Eurpoe and Asia and just like it says in the BB manual- once they are hooked up to wi-fi, all BB services are available (emails, etc). Not on VZW! WTF??

You don't have BES? BIS will only allow web and downloading data. Also, there is a known issue right now with the $30 blackberry data plan. Some are not getting wifi.

I am new to wifi on phones, but I just did a test with my network settings off and wifi connected only and it's receiving emails. I have a BIS unlimited plan.

WiFi doesn't appear to be crippled other than the issue I mentioned above with the $30 plan
