Crippled Wi-Fi!

by socalsurfer    Oct 30, 2009, 9:18 AM

The Storm2 is a really nice phone! Sharp screen, easy to type on, both in landscape and protrait mode, fast, and feels really well built. Until you want to access your emails via wi-fi!

I spent two days with VZW data support, dlink, and even Blackberry support & guess what? The only way you can access any Blackberry services is through the VZW mobile network!

Apparently the only thing VZW allows on wi-fi is browsing the internet (oh joy!) and LAN hookups for printers, etc. I have had other wi-fi Blackberries; in Eurpoe and Asia and just like it says in the BB manual- once they are hooked up to wi-fi, all BB services are available (emails, etc). Not on VZW! WTF??

I was willing to shell out full retail for this beauty, as I have customers in places where VZW coverage (any coverage for that matter) doesn't exist-but they do have a wi-fi network I can access for data.

Oh well, back to the Tour, which is also a great phone. It just doesn't have that great big, easy to read screen.

Sory in advance for the rant- just had to get it off my chest.
