Storm won't charge...cancelled contract..still get it replaced?
I purchased my storm in January and went through numerous FRU's until I was fed up with it and CS cancelled my contract. Since I am still under the factory warranty, is Verizon able to still replace my phone because it wont charge unless it is plugged into my desktop charger. It wont charge from the wire itself, but when the wire goes into the desk stand, it will charge. Even though I do not have service with them? I can see it going both ways but figured this would be a good place to start.

you are still under 1 year warranty you can still go through the manufacture to get this replaced. in your blackberry instruction booklet you will find a support information. Verizon will not replace it but they should, but expect to allow 4-8 weeks to get this done and sent back to you.

Its interesting....It will only charge using the desktop alarm charging thing. The car charger and the AC adapter that came with it will not charge it. When I plug in the AC charger into the desktop charger it will charge...hmmm...interesting...

actually is interesting, my next question is the chargers (both) official bb chargers or are they after market.. i have noticed when i sell them i have to use the official bb car charger and the one that came with my bb storm for it to work or it acts funny... the reason i say this is that the pins in the charger might be different some how and it creates a connection with the DT unit, and the dt unit is accessing the right pins for your bb storm. then again i could be wrong... just from observation.

I am using the official BB AC charger and it does not work unless it is plugged into the alarm clock dock thing. The car charger is the one VerizonWireless sells you.

ok, here is what you can do, go into a verizon store with your hc, dt, and cc. tell them that your home and car charger is acting up but, your desktop charger is working fine.. have then test the chargers and see if it is your phone or your chargers. if they determine its your phone you will need to get ahold of RIM and see if they have you send your phone in to have them fix it for you.
