Battery Issues Go To Verizon Store???

cguella

The telereps/support keep telling me that in order to fix my battery issue (~5 hours of standby on both old and brand new battery alike with no apps running except Yahoo chat) I should go to the Verizon store and they can change some settings to fix it. Anyone know what the hell they would do to save me or others the hassle of actually going? I assume it is disable chat to start but that is a guess.

THANKS.

Not sure what OS you are running, but here is a good write up on battery draining problems and issues.

It was [appeared to be] the Weatherbug app. I did not go to the store just uninstalled that app and seem to be back to normal battery life now.

I go into the crackberry forums a lot and it seems like there is always someone complaining about weatherbug either not working or it's a suspected cause of bad battery life.

Hope you found the cause

Hmm...I have weatherbug, and now I'm considering removing it because you said that it improved you battery life. I really hadn't had any problems with it, but maybe I just got used to my battery life.

Ok here is what I have learned:

- Battery life: 5 hours standby UNHAPPY
- Remove Weatherbug completely
- Turn off Yahoo Instant Message
- Battery Life: 3 days standby and talk HAPPY

Something must be wrong with Weatherbug I cannot confirm that Yahoo chat was the issue since I did two things (saving the post reminding me to never change two things when troubleshooting).

Damn! I really liked WeatherBug too. I guess I gotta remove it. Anyone got a suggestion? I use WeatherEye on my work BB (8830), but not too fond of it.

Accepted, running the app causes battery drain, but I too, like it. Its not a device destroyer on all Storms. It doesn't drain to a degree that makes my Storm worthless. To read the reviews on Blackberry Apps, you'd think this phone is lost without it. One opinion after another....they just love this thing!

I weighed the positives and negs and re-installed Weatherbug, enjoy the info it provides. A simple remedy? Being a big app user, I carry an extra battery or two. Result? ALL apps become user-friendly....

I have had Yahoo IM on my Storm since day one and there have been no problems keeping it running in the background. You may be ok with that one
