So, What's so cool about it?

1. How are you going to get e-mails when you are traveling abroad without WI-FI?
2. How can I watch my Slingbox when I travel?

Data Roaming?

3. Can you make VOIP calls on this phone?
4. Is it possible to transfer a presentation or contact via bluetooth from my phone to this phone? Historicaly it was not possible with Verizon.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this does not sound as a business-friendly phone, but I had no chance to play with it.

Some mentioned being able to successfully move music and vids to the phone. Considering the fact that Verizon's been blocking moving "outside" music and vids to some phones for years, it may be a big development for Verizon's customers, but for others that's been just a standard feature ...

The Storm is a world phone that carries 7 different radios in it so getting email or making calls is not an issue abroad

Sounds like you haven't dealt with Verizon in years though and things have changed. Their network is opening up and changing with the times, so what once was isn't so much anymore.

Any Blackberry is a business friendly phone but I suppose it depends on your definition of what a business friendly phone is. What is your definition?

Music, vids, and files are simple to move to and from the phone. You can drag and drop them into the card, use BB manager, or even use a Mac.

Many (not all) phones have been out for years with the capabilities to move "outside" music onto them. Lots of purpose built music oriented devi...

Thank you. 7 different radios are all good, but that means roaming $$$. I would personally drop 900/1800 GSM bands, keep WCDMA 2100 (available almost in almost every 900/1800 GSM country) and add Wi-FI so that I do not have to pay for roaming. VOIP (like UMA with T-Mo) allows me to call US for free while I temporarily reside in China. My friends can also call me for free as I use the same US number (very sweet).

My Definition of business phone:
Wi-fi
VOIP support
VPN support
Office suite
IMAP/Exchange

You are correct, I have not been playing with Verizon phones for a while. Things apparently changed at VZW.

Take care,

The Storm 9520 has wifi and GSM, but due to Verizons exclusive agreement with RIM , it will not be available in the US.
Rogers in Canada will be getting it. Unlocked, it could be a lot of fun 😁

The only two things this phone does not have is the WiFi and the VOIP (right now you can't have VOIP without Wifi).

It has blackberry's email system which is one of the best. I have my emails go both to my work exchange server and my BB and my BB gets my email first everytime. I get full HTML on my storm.

It also has a range of office programs from spreadsheets to powerpoints from RIM. You can purchase the Microsoft phones for your BB too if you really want them.

The only thing this phone doesn't have is the ability to do some things cheeply but it will do all the things you want it to well, and to me that's the definition of a buisness phone.

You could actually do VOIP over 3G, yet again you are faced with data roaming charges when abroad (where VOIP would mostly be used). I am curious is Fring or Skype would work on this platform.

I think this is a very good platform and Vzw version of this phone is a decent business phone for US focused business. With the economy in a dump right now every $ counts when you travel abroad, so Canadian version 9520 sounds like a slightly better deal for int'l travelers.

It is a nice phone. it is very encouraging to hear that slingbox is playing well on this platform. Now, 9520 has Wi-fi, so I assume all of the stuff the guy was saying could be done abroad for free.
Thank you for this link.
