Storm OS 4.7.0.86 leaked!

Well, for those that hated .85 we now have .86 to play around with.

As always, this is a leaked operating system and not an official release by Verizon so if you like the latest and hopefully the greatest (crossing my fingers), follow the link.

Use at your own risk 👀

So far it looks like the media card bug issue is dealt with and the camera actually works!

the phone changes screens alot faster when being rotated....its like its become natural.

the camera works with no hesitation.

the phone keeps saying i have a new message when i dont...but was fixed with a battery pull

alot less lags especially with typing

scrolling is alot better seems a little smoother

switching from screen to screen is faster and smoother.

audio sounds a little more stable...but what i really want to kno is if anyone has found a headset to use with the phone because the one that comes with the phone sucks...i tried the sidekick LX headset and its much better. but i know i can get better sound quality if i use a headset that perfect. maybe the iphone headset? someone help please...

Phone seems to be a bit faster, but:

We still get the media card/vzw screen error, phone still reboots, there is still freezing, bluetooth still doesn't work with bluetooth, and when pressing menu, it will bring up the app switcher instead of the actual menu at times. Anyways, not sure if it is my imagination, but it at least it seems better than .85 overall.

.75 is the latest official version that Verizon supports at the moment.

All higher versions (.83, .85, .86 etc) right now have been released to Verizon for testing. They either accept or reject that version for official release.

Should you update?
My opinion is that it depends on what you are experiencing on your Storm. If you are getting frustrated by quirks and bugs and lag popping up, its worth playing around with the Betas

If your Storm is behaving well, I wouldn't fool around with it until the official releases come through from Verizon

Official release updates can be done over the air on the phone or through the Desktop Manager software that came with your phone.

The leaked versions are typically only .exe files that h...

how do you like the .86 patch? I been using it since it came out, and I finally switched it back to .85 yesterday. I think the .85 is more stable, and bug free. Not sure if anyone else is seeing more issue with the .86 or not?

Oh by all means that .85 and .86 are much much needed to version that you get from the store. For me I just noticed a lot of little problems that I saw with the .86 then .85. For that reason alone I ended up wiping the storm and putting .85 back on. I would say if you got the time use the .85 for a week, and then do .86 and see if you notice any goods or bads?

i use .86 since the leak was posted here. i like it, although one thing i dont like is the phone always blinks red now, and blue/red when i use bt. the battery life for me isnt good, but they say turning off the gps will help. the accelerometer is a lil quirky, sometimes very sensitive and sometimes a lil lagish. i hope they have something after .86, i saw somewhere the 9500 storm got .87. i would say if you like your storm leave it alone, if not, .85 or .86 are both pretty good.

.86 works best for me and mine flashes blue not red so dont know what that could be. I have had minimal problems since upgrading to .86. Phone works great!

Thanks for keeping everyone updated HawkeyeOC! This is the first 'leaked' OS I've decided to try, so I'm anxious to see how it works! I just wish Verizon would finally give us an official upadated version! I know one is coming soon as I recently had a discussion with a Verizon insider, but he couldn't give me a specific date! So soon could be...well...weeks??...months?? Who knows. Anyway, I'm installing .86 now and look forward to any improvement from .75!

Well...in my first couple of minutes playing with OS .86, it does seem to be faster. I'll report back if I find anything else noteworthy to share!

No problem! These leaks seem to be happening every couple of weeks at the most. It's kind of fun trying them out to see what's new 😁

Has anyone tried this on the Telus Version of this phone in Canada? I'm kinda hoping it activates the MMS feature of the phone since telus doesn't seem to have it on their phone.
