Crackberry.com is reporting this as not a rumor but true. I hope they do like the iPhone and at least let exisisting customers purchase the new one at the new customer price. AT&T did this with the iPhone 3G.

The current Storm was supposed to be out that time last year also. I am still thinking later, but who knows 😕

On May 4th, I posted a thread on this forum not to expect an update for the Storm in May, or anytime soon.

Its obvious at this point that Verizon's intention is to roll out the Storm 2 with great fanfare & little detraction or negative feedback from the Original Storm group. What is likely is an upgrade platform & OS (similar to, or the same featured on the new device) to be offered for the Storm 1, to placate us.

Strictly a marketing strategy. It makes little sense for Verizon to improve upon our Blackberry. It will occur, however, to keep the "waters calm."

It is becoming more apparent why support never materialized. The people responsible for that decision should try making an important call and have their phones LOCK UP ...

I dont want to purchase a new one at the new price...I want a new phone as long as it works. Im on my 5th storm...dont get me wrong...I love it but its a love hate relationship. Ive spent more time trouble shooting this phone in the past 6 months than I would ever care too.

I think they should replace them for people like me. The difference btw the storm and the iphone is that there was NOTHING wrong with the 1G iphone. Muoy problemos for the Storm.

Just saying :-)

Not being a quitter, I have never given up on the Storm. The device is totally unpredictable, and it never ceases to surprise me with performance-related issues time and time again. I could pull it out of the holster to receive a call and get nothing but a white screen, or click 3 times to invoke an app and pull up the wrong one.

The text issue never resolves. It's slow and requires pinpoint accuracy to get out a correct sentence. And even with that effort, your bound to require backspace correction. Poor design!

That being said, the screen is still the best. I'm yet to find a phone that possesses the solidity of the Storm. An upgrade will finally bring to us the performance we deserve... 🙄

So are most people looking to switch to the Storm 2 when it comes out? Anyone considering the Niagara?

Most people that own the original Storm are awaiting a freakin update! I, for one, happen to like Sure Press, which will not be offered on the replacement Storm 2. And, for obvious reasons, having a new model does not guarantee it performs in a more satisfying way.

Just look for example at LG, Samsung,& Motorola. They are constantly coming out with new phones, many of which are crappy in design and inferior to those previously released. Look at Verizon, one lousy phone after another. Substance over quality. The Voyager has been succeeded by more than 30 phones, none of which match it's performance.

So, Storm 2? A big deal? Who knows? Let them put a bandage on the one we all own on this forum. A lot of folks will sit pat with the...
