Storm and Bold issues continue - Wall St Journal Article

I am sooooo glad I got rid of my Storm before the 30 day return polcy was up. Regardless of Verizon persistently telling customers that issues will be fixed over time, I (and this article) believe that it will be a long, long time. So to all you Storm lovers, good luck!

Funny, mine works as well as the 8700 I had with T-Mobile, just different.

Same here. I've had no major glitches or issues with the .75 software at all. I see bugs like white screen every now and then but nothing that hampers productivity.

Does an unbiased review of the blackberry storm exist?

Basing buying decisions on reviews good or bad is a little foolish anyway. Go out and test the product out, do some research and make sure it fits your requirements.

In the Storms case there are lots of negative reviews out there but proof of a phones success or failure is not in reviews....its in sales numbers.

Nothing I have read yet says the Storm is a sales bomb. In fact its been the opposite. The Curve will continue to be the number one Blackberry anyway because it is available on every single carrier. THe Storm fits very well into RIMS entire line of phones.

Something for everyone.

Sales numbers were high on the Storm but so were the return rates. The problem with the Storm is that "a little buggy" doesn't cut it for most die hard BB users. And "a little buggy" is being kind. It has been very buggy for most people even though the recent patch helped but did not cure it's ailments. Some users just decided to love it and live with it's issues until RIM fixes it. That's okay if you have the luxury of doing so.

However, many of us don't. Many of us have come to rely on BB's solid and stable platform to help us make a living. Many do not have the time, nor patience for multiple daily battery pulls and self induced resets. Most IT departments, like mine, encourage the use of the BB to end users so they don't have to endu...

Thanks for taking the time to write this 😁

I read somewhere that RIM doesn't make that many mistakes and when it does, it goes back and corrects them.

They don't seem to be the type of company that dumps products out there and gives up on them so I have no doubt its issues will be resolved and the Storm will continue to be 1 among many different types of products it sells.

Thats the great thing about RIM I guess. If the Storm isn't right for you or a certain type of user, they will have something that is whether it is a Bold, a Curve, a Pearl or whatever.

Okay, seriously: what in the world are you doing on your Storm that you have to do "multiple daily battery pulls" and have to deal with "self induced resets"? I have had mine for a few weeks now and have had to do a battery pull very few times and have yet to experience a single self-induced reset.

Completely spot on. I sell three different postpaid carriers, and having had tons of experience (and LOVE) for the reliability and function of RIM products. I WANT to adore the first touch screen blackberry, but I can't. I've personally toyed with the storm for hours since it was released, and the idea is amazing, but I can't help but see that it was a rushed release. RIM has NEVER BEEN the company with tons of firmware releases and silly tweaks to make their phones more user friendly. They are the epitome of reliability and function, and this model simply doesn't keep up with the stellar releases of the past.

The upside is that RIM didn't forget about the phone after it's release. I have had a few of those phones before.

My only issue with the BB Storm is that I'm on my second replacement due to the power and back key being ripped off after putting it into a BB carrying case.

Verzion was great about replacing the phone. The corporate store saw what happened and verified with customer service my problem.

I just wished there were more apps available for it.
