Yes, I put it on last night with some trouble. I had to delete a vender file in order for Desktop Manager to recognize the new OS.

So far:
-Camera performance is much better
-The screen lock function has been changed. (You can no longer press the screen to unlock it)
-Browser performance is much quicker

😁

I tried it today. I did not think it was enough of an improvement to warrant it's use since it seemed to have some quirks I did not like and changed some features. I switched back just awhile ago. The previou software if doing just fine for now. I am hoping for a 4.7.1 version soon (maybe even a 4.😎 since the recent changes are just minor fixes and stop gaps.

This leaked version might not even get officially released according to the guy that leaked the last version. I am still impressed with the speed of the updates. Sort of makes up for the fact that .65 should never have shipped as an OS

I had given up on the Storm, and reactivated my Curve 8330 Friday morning. Then I read about this new version, so I downloaded it and loaded it. It made things much worse than with .75.

Back to my Curve until RIM / VZW get it right.

Well genius, that's what you get for downloading a non official, LEAKED version of the OS. LOL. And considering all links to it say to DOWNLOAD AT YOUR OWN RISK, you dug your own grave on that one bud.

A few people that did the update ran into worse performance issues with their too. I think pulling the battery a couple of times solved some of it.

The other thing I have been doing before I put any OS update on is to wipe the old OS off of it.

Just downloaded .83. So far so good. Also did not take nearly as long as the .75 update. The accelerometer is almost unflappable now. Also, the browser is definitely faster, even in the questionable coverage area my house is in. Camera is still a little slow but does show some improvement. I will probably play with it a lot more tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up on the new OS, Hawkeye. This phone gets more incredible with each update. 😁

How do you do that? Is that the same as "wipe handheld"

I have been using a PC program called "JL_cmdr"

connect the data cable, run the program and it wipes the OS off of it. You then can install the new one through Desktop Manager.

I did a search, and that kinda wipe sounds scary for a beginner, so I will just roll back to .75 and wait until VZW issues its own update.

Yes, I have reactivated the Storm on my line. Still hoping it can be like the Storm in the commercial, ya know, everything works perfectly. 🙂

The wipe is a little scary. The program is easy to use but if something goes wrong...
The safest way to to wait for the official updates 😁

I couldn't even find the program when I searched for it, just alot of comments from those who have used it. Can you point me in the right direction?

Can someone finally say if this is worth upgrading too? No one ever gives a clear message. The entire process to wip and upgrade is so annying, so if someone can please confirm that this update is working better than .75?
