As a music and video player
How good is the music and video player? Maybe not top notch IPhone, but comparable? Also, can I move files easily from Limewire? or would you suggest another source? Thanks in advance!

for music just drag and drop your mp3 files into your black berry media folder. just to to my computer and click black berry device then open card folder and drop. same goes for movies just convert your dvds to mp4 and drag and drop. thats all

How is the device as a music player? Good stereo sound with headphones? are they included? I will use a bluetooth earpiece to talk on the phone and a wired set of stereo phones for music.

vzw has better service. the storm comes with 3.5mm head phones. they sound really good. feel safe to stay with verizon.

I use the Storm device mainly for work however the movie playback is fantastic from some clips I put on and a trailer that already came preloaded on the device. It does allow for Rhapsody and iTunes but I don't foresee putting much on my device. If so I would won't to hear a lot of people doing it first on this forum. We purchased an iPhone for my mother and I really can't tell much a difference past the (push) touch screen and the operating system. Both are solid devices. I never really cared about switching from VZW to AT&T's iPhone b/c I have an iPod w/ over 8000 songs and I would not feel comfortable w/ that much on my work phone. Also, the fact that I couldn't throw a backup battery in that badboy and had a hard time typing quickly on i...

I'm having serious problems getting videos to play on the Storm. For example, I have a bunch of MP4 files on my hard drive which are of TV shows created by TivoToGo. The Blackberry Media Manager recognizes them and allows them to be copied to the Storm, but once there they don't play or crash the system. I have tried all the conversion options in the Media Manager software. However, a movie trailer I have in iTunes in M4V format imports and plays just fine. Does anyone know what the problem is here? Is the Storm supposed to play MP4s?

I should add to this that I set TivoToGo to convert for my PSP originally. I just read the following on BB's website:

I work for VZW and we displayed the Babylon AD movie trailor. The sound is awesome on it and the picture looks HD. Its definately a media device whether you like it or not

I did not find it to work too well for video. It seemed to have trouble with software stability with loaded videos and the playback of wen embedded videos was just awful.

You are not a very reliable source if you think the Storm plays back awesome movies. The picture quality of downloaded movies is great and the screen is very nice but the software is unstable. That is well documented. As for streaming videos and YouTube, it is not capable of producing as good an image as other phones such as the iPhone. Do a side by side and see for yourself.

Telling the truth is not "trashing" something. The fact that you guys only want to hear the good shows your lack of impartiality.
Truth is, this phone has had serious software issues regarding video playback and it is not capable of presenting streaming video as well as other phones. If you cannot deal with that fact you need to stop reading the forum.

here is one thing you do. someone will ask a question about something, it will get answered and then you will come in and say something negative about the phone. it wont even be what they asked but it seems you make it a point to point out things that people dont even ask about. and ive had 0 problems with my phone. so in my eyes the storm is perfect.

I tried 2 demo's ( victoria garden's verizon store in CA), and had an IPHONE there for comparison...I also tried a brand new storm from another friend and did side by side with IPHONE...the storm does not stream vid's from sites like NBC mobile as well as the Iphone...that is not stopping me from a purchase when I return to NJ next week....but the truth is, vids stream better on the Iphone....and there are a ton of people on HF storm forums to back that up...

It's sad, because I come back in here to try to learn how to load/watch videos/movies on my Storm, and I have to wade through miles of childish posts to learn this thread really isn't much more than a playground for folks ripping on each other. I suppose that's why I tend to use Howard Forums and Crackberry's site -- as they don't tend to have this level of childish bickering.
It's amazing to read some of the posts here, as some folks seem "bent" on always 'getting in the last word'.
Come on now, PLAY NICE together, and actually ADD some knowledge that the rest of us can benefit from.

will probably agree the screen and video is great. i own the phone, and thats how i feel.
i put like 6 mp4 movies on it, and i can jump to any part of the movie with almost no lag, hell, its faster then my aspire one jumping through videos.
the first 2 days with the phone are a lil rough imo, but once you learn the phone, its actually quite nice. and the keyboard has a big learning curve, but now i kinda dont look and "just type" and its pretty nice. give it a week before you return if u try it, it probably wont go back.
