I would say to be an "iPhone killer" a phone would have to be able to not only acheive a certain high level of performance but also unseat the iPhone as the all time highest selling and most acclaimed cell phone worldwide.

The iPhone did not become the worlds leading cell phone because of brand recognition. It did it because it is an amazing device with an amazing interface. It has the single most advanced OS on a cell phone period. It revolutionized the entire industry because it was a stage ahead in technology and performance. Go to any IEEE, or other major consumer electronics convention, and try and find anyone that will not admit (sometimes reluctantly) that the iPhone is currently the best phone made.
Microsoft is also a hugely recognized name and their phones do not do that well.
Apple succeeds by building a quality, user friendly product. The iPhone is no except...

i dont think verizon is the best, they might be but im with them cause it works best for me.
iphone is kinda like the ps1. it blew everyone away the n64 and dreamcast. then ps2 came out and it still won between xbox and game cube. well now look xbox 360 wins over ps3 and you have wii which is omg something different.

I will say that the Storm is definitely not an iPhone killer. It is not even decent competition. The true iPhone killer on the horizon looks to me to be the Nokia N97. This is the phone Apple will be scrambling to match. With flash support, user facing camera, 5mp video/still camera, etc it appears to blow the current iPhone away features wise.

The higher end Nokias have typically not been associated with US carriers though which kills the guys that don't or won't pay full retail for a phone. If they start giving them away with contracts they would have more of a chance or are they about to do that?

After reading all this, which I found quite entertaining, one thing I would like to mention is the iPhone is not that much of a phenom overseas. The reason? They already have better phones overseas. I saw someone mention the N97 coming out. Did you know I was told Best buy will sell it for 500+ dollars? Did you also know if you go to Greece it is less than 100 dollars because the N95 is out. I got to play with a N95 for a minute, 30gb internal memory, much better camera. Off topic....
Point is overseas has much better devices. We could very well get a phone that is the END ALL of this Iphone dispute but it will take a long time of research and devlopment not to mention they have to appeal to the masses. Noone wants to spend 1000 bucks on ...
