Text Entry Format?

JS1973

Does anyone know what the format for text entry is on the I600? The I500 has Graffiti, but the I600 doesn't. I don't think the I600 uses a touchscreen, so there wouldn't be a screen keyboard available unless I'm wrong about that. That leaves the phone number pad, and hitting the keys multiple times for each letter. Does anyone know if that's the case? If so, any thoughts on how big of a pain that is? It would seem like that might be OK if you use it as a phone and to view your calendar, contacts, etc., but not very good if you actually want to enter information or, God forbid, type an e-mail.

The i600 uses T9 text input, works pretty good for stuff like text messaging and entering contact info. If you were going to be sending e-mail on a regular basis I would see about getting the optional keyboard.

jtaylor,
Is there a guide to using T9?? I played with the I600 last night for hours before ordering it. I will miss the graffiti area...but it was NOT a deal breaker for me. So, I guess I have to learn T9! 😁

Vipermad,
No real guide to using the T9 input method, all you need to do is push each button with the letter that you want once even if it is the third letter on the button. If the word does not show up there is a next button (the key) and this will bring up the next word. For instance to spell HOME you would hit the #'s 4063, this will bring up several different options for words.....good, home, gone, hood, hoof, hone etc etc. you can select the word you want by pressing the #0 key. You can also add words into the T9 dictionary if it does not have the word you are looking for by using the multi tap method then selecting T9 again before you close out of the message. This will save the word into the T9 dictionary. T9 can be pretty quick ...

No problems!! I think the Kyocera I have now (7135) has this??? Not sure, but I'll have a look and practice. I will miss that graffiti area (did I already day that???) 🙂

Thanks for the help! My I600 should be here tomorrow or Thursday....but I'll believe it when I see it! 🙂

The voice technology (Digit Dial and Name Dial) were AMAZING!!!

I have had this site's pages on the I500 and the I600 open side by side.....It looks like the I600 gave everyone who posted their reviews almost exactly what they wanted. 🙂
