Samsung SCH-i600 / SP-i600

I am thinking about getting this phone for the easy hookup and reminders from outlook. I don't care about email. This phone rates poorly versus other phones. Are the poor ratings due to the early problems that users had with the phonne? Does the reception vary much from your previous phones? How many lockups do you have? Would you buy it again at $400 + ?
