I have noticed in GSM phones that when they are communicating with the network, they make a chattering noise around electonic equipment, like speakers and land line telephones. Does this phone have the same problem?

Also, still hoping for folks who have used the LG Dare to compare that phone to this one.

The noise is not only gsm phones but all wireless devices. It has to do with the radio frequency and the speaker picking up the same frequency. So yes it does. There is no way around this "issue" if you may say its an issue.

I've stopped getting the noise in the speakers when I started using 3G phones (on my third right now). The only time I get it is when my phone switches to edge.
