direct connect speaker issue???

Is ther a way to silence the speaker on the blackberry 8350i. I have a customer who cannot silence direct connect when alerted or contacted. There is no way to stop someone from not using alert edicate. He will get a call therough direct connect and it is not private. How can he make the direct connect call private? Shocked
