Does Anybody know if there's anything on the horizon with a "hybrid" Sprint/Iden/Cdma BlackBerry. You would get the best of both worlds. Cdma for your cellular & data,Plus the Iden ptt, not q-talk??? Or have they given up on the hybrids?

Hybrids are done. What is out there is it, actually they all have been sold out back in the summer, and then they relaunched until the Rev A network can be built out for Sprint DC service.

I believe Hybrids was a transitional phase for sprint. New Hybrids are not really being sold in stores. Nextel on Sprint devices are. They operate completely off the sprint network. There is no PDA the operates on sprint and nextel. If they create one most likely it will be all sprint network with the ability to direct connect nextel phones through the data on the EVDO REV A network. 😎

The thought of a hybrid would be the best thing going for this phone. CDMA with Iden PTT is the best thing going. As for the other Hybrids they are still making them.

You wouldn't want a hybrid of this phone - the Moto Renegade is a so-called hybrid and it sucks. The phone is CDMA and the PTT uses the web via some version of VOIP - so the phone is always trying to work and the battery is SUCKED DRY.

I've been with Sprint for years, have more than one line, and while the Renegade hybrid is a cool workhorse, the PTT is a JOKE which renders the phone worthless. Even when the battery isn't dead yet, half the time the PTT is searching and unavailable.

Just my opinion, but consider yourself lucky that they didn't try to make the Blackberry a hybrid!!

I think this phone wouldve been better as a cdma/iden hybrid.

Personally I do not recommend the new series of Sprint PTT phones to anyone who relies heavily on the PTT feature.
