i would say this do a master reset of your device, by going into the settings and system and then hit the master reset button and try that if the problem continues then yes i would say that you have a defective phone and it is under a one year warranty meaning 1 yr from date of purchase so if it has not been a year you can bring it into vzw and they will replace it for free no charge. not before doing the master reset make sure your all backed up as it will remove everything off the phone contacts, etc
