Just ordered this phone w/o a data plan. Cust service rep said that the only phones that require a data plan are the blackberry's.

That my friend is incorrect info.. Gotta co-sign wilv.. all PDA's need atleast the web & email attachment for $29.99 now. As far as getting around it the system glitches at times still giving the Pay Per Use options. Sure that option will be fully deleted very soon

Confused...so I can't just buy this phone under my standard family plan, use it at work to sync with my outlook calander, and connect via WiFi if I wish when I wish? Need a data plan? That doesn't sound right...

It's a PDA/phone as of 11/14 you have to have a data plan. If you are wanting just a phone and need to check e-mail there are a few others that can do it.

It's on the same playing field as the BB Storm and it's said to say but if you want to have a "v8 of phones" you pay for it.

I sell Verizon and it is true. As of 11/14 all PDA phones require a data plan. The system will not let me activate the phone without one.

Thanks. Looking forward to this phone. I have checked the two local stores near me in South Bend Indiana and I would love to try one before I buy it but none seem to be in the area yet.

Well my friend, hopefully you are not a verizon employee and totally correct on this. I get my phone on Thursday and will verify once again before my 30 days are up. I will not keep it if I have to keep a data plan. Maybe the cust rep lied to me? Who knows but I will repost once I get some answers.

Hate to be the one to burst your bubble but I work for vzw and you are required to have either the 29.99 email and web or the 44.99 wireless sync data plan on all pda devices as of the 14th. If you previously had one you do not have to get it but any and ALL new pda purchases now require the data package. But why only have wifi access anyways? Thats like hamstringing your phone.

This is such total BS! I just visited both a Verizon store and Circuit City and was told the same. The gal at Verizon said that you may be able to buy online without the plan but wasn’t sure.

I currently have a Motorolla Q that I sync with my calander and contacts with MS Outlook and now I can’t get a new phone without dropping another $30 per month! My wife upgraded a few weeks back to a new palm but I decided to wait and now I can’t even do so…Come On!

I know plenty of other users doing the same as me and don’t need the web access…and I totally understand that some idiot can run up a huge data bill if not under a plan…you would think the mobile broadband access could be disabled since this is a ...

I have a pda, and I do not pay for the data plan. I don't want to pay another $45/mo when I can use WiFi. Besides..... the web browsing is awful and the experience is tedious. Why should I pay for a plan that just frustrates me on top of it?

yes, came from work today. this is true. NOV 14 is the date. anything released after that will need it. anything before (other than blackberries) can still do the pay per use option.

i know its a lot of money, but you would rather get charged 5.12mb (.005cents per kb) if you are sending pictures, this will add up fast
