I don't know what is wrong with your phone or the phone you messed with, but I have sero issues with the touchscreen. You could use a stylus, but there is no slot for it.

then i got a defect phone cuz i gotta keep double tapping.. i did see that it responds better with something poking at it.

You just have to get used to it. It took me around 3 days to find the tricks of it specially the search symbol on the phonebook. press and hold till you see the Alphabets and then scroll.

You can get a stylus for it I saw 2 for 10.99 and it comes with a strap. 🙂
