If u get this phone prepare yourself for serious buyers remorse. This is a phone full of cant do this cant do that. Hard to use keyboard, slow speeds, lacks many standard features. Even street view is slow. Smart buyers beware. 👀

Wow, I really enjoyed your lack of detail on how I (a buyer who would love this phone), and explain the "can't do this can't do that", it does more than what the iPhone does, just no camera options or flash.

Quit trolling.

Do you mean "phone as modem"? I've only heard Sprint people use that term.

yes, Phone As Modem
aka tethering
since I have a laptop, and want to have EDGE/3G access, then PAM support is essential, as I have $20 VPN

You guys actually don't think that somebody isn't going to develop some kind of tethering application for the G1 and Android? It may not come out for a few weeks or a month or so, but I'm very sure it will.

And if somehow TMO or Google stop it, or have some way that it can't be implemented, so much for "open source".

It may not kill the deal for me and many others, but tethering is a real nice option, especially for now and then uses on one's laptop.

I agree with Diamond. I got to play with one on Friday after the T-Mo managers got theirs. The UI is smokin fast but that where it ends. Even the stripped camera was bad. I would compare the lens on the camera to a under $50 1.3MP. Even if an app gives you the camcorder you still have an extremely poor lens. If Android turns out to be the bomb UI the hardware is very clunky or sh. Sliding the phones shows that it has no smoothness in it. I could see customers returning it due to damage to slide. You know the nervous sliding of a phones part or flip to pass the time. I think that I will wait for the Behold due out next month. Its a shame that Moto is due out with the next one....it should be just like the G1 only the hardware will wo...

It’s okay ot like the phone, but your arguments don’t hold up well.
1. “Only supported by t-mobile’s network” – Tmobile will actually unlock it for you! And just about EVERY phone is made for a specific carrier
2. “U must have a data plan” – This is common for smartphones these days
3. “U must have a gmail” – Yes, it’s GOOGLE software and gmail is free
4. “U must write down (contacts otherwise void warranty for switching sim cards)” – There are a couple ways to gets contacts into the phone
5. “U must use finger only (no gloves, no stylus or even a finger nail while using this device)” – Capacitive touchscreens are way nicer than res...

yes you can unlock the phone but it WILL NOT work on another network only tmobile.

"Pictures taken with the G1 are okay. I wasn't wowed by them at all, but they didn't disappoint me either. Colors looked good both inside and out, and white balance was mostly accurate. In bright sunlight, however, light colored objects were often washed out. Inside, there was often a haze visible if the subject were close to a light source such as a window or lamp. Using the autofocus meant most images were sharp, and I saw very little grain, even with indoor shots. Images captured with the G1 are certainly worthy of adding to your MySpace or Facebook profile, though I wouldn't be tempted to blow them up to 16 x 20 size and frame them in my living room"

Why wouldn't this phone work even if its on edge only on AT&T's or any other gsm network? And never heard that tmo will void a warranty for sim swapping, even Apple doesn't do that.

Oct 21, 2008, 7:21 PM
you can void your warranty due to alot of things. if i buy a phone under your line (cheaper upgrade) and i add it to my line i wont have any warranty (as new as it is).. if you swap your Sim around alot it'll also void your warranty (but some are lucky and system doesn't pick it up :wink🙂

it wont work on att because att doesn't have that g1 soc(feature) available. maybe in the future it will happen but as of now the g1 is just like the sidekick.

except the sidekick they REFUSE to unlock

Everyone I know who works at t-mobile is not impressed with this phone. Last week t-mobile trained employee's on the g1. Many lost interest and predict they will receive tons of complaints and unknown problems with device. There already reporting outages. Dont believe they will void warranty for sim swapping just call and ask or go into the store and talk to a rep no one is ever in there anyway except maybe tommorow for this joke of a release date (try it before u buy it). Thats why preordering is a bad idea because you do get to test drive the phone and could end up stuck with a dud or just completly dislike the phone. Best phone on the market right now is the Diamond until the Pro comes out do side by side comparisions of the g1 and the Di...

The best part of his rants in here is that he appears to have helped the G-1 become a success! A 4.18 user rating after a few months is not too bad. 😁

He is so impressed with my thoughts and insights that he is now following me around trying to tell me how wrong I am everywhere I go 😲

Yes Android does have a bright future 😁 something I've said a long time ago. But t-mobile has put out the most crappy phones and htc devices 🤭 . This one is just better then everything else t-mobile has to offer so its not like you have much choice. My Touch Pro from Sprint has been the center of attention since I purchased it 😎 . Even g1 users admit that my Pro is better and are impressed with it 🙂 . I still haven't used every feature this phone has to offer and I've had it since it was released 😈 . The best just isn't for everyone 🤤 . Its like a Lamborghini or Ferrari the g1 is more like a honda civic or accord. Its easy to use and has a main stream appeal but lacks some pretty important features for my taste. Looks l...
